Celebrating the Carousel, August
August 2, 2012
The C.W. Parker Carousel is celebrating a century of service this year.
To celebrate, artist José Rivashas been commissioned to create original paintings of three horses to be featured as a "horse of the month" from June through August. Each month, posters featuring one of the horses will be given away to the first 5,000 riders.
Horse #6, Scampering Dawn, has been selected as the "horse of the month" for August.
Interpretive panels about the carousel's history have been installed at the carousel building, and visitors can also learn more about the individual horses using two new touch-screen computers. Stop in Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays for a free tour of the carousel at 1:00 pm until August 30.
Gate Admission is FREE, Carousel Rides are $2.30 each
