what is a heritage fair?
A Heritage Fair is similar to a science fair, except that students do their projects on Canadian history and heritage.
In 2012, 6,000 students across BC presented projects at School-Based Heritage Fairs. Of these students 1,100 went on to present their projects at 12 Regional Heritage Fairs throughout BC.
Teachers and parents of grade 4 to 10 students from Burnaby, New Westminster and the Tri-Cities are encouraged to organize a class- or school-based fair, from which participants are selected for the Rivers to Sea Regional Heritage Fair. At the Regional Fair, students will be interviewed and their entries adjudicated by a panel of community judges. All students are recognized for their participation. Several projects are chosen to represent the Rivers to Sea Regional Heritage Fair at the Provincial Heritage Fair.
